American Idol 2010 Crystal Bowersox Has Emotional Moment In Amazing Performance: It’s really getting down to the wire for the 7 remaining contestants in the 9th week of American Idol. Alicia Keys was the mentor for the idols and they had to choose songs of inspiration. Go to BODOG.com to get all of the current odds on your American Idol favorites.
Alicia Keys lent her expertise to the contestants in “Song of Inspiration” week especially since she’s a huge activist in the fight of HIV Aids in Africa. Starting off the show was 7 to 1 odds Casey James who sang “Don’t Stop” by Fleetwood Mac. The judges didn’t like it with Simon stating, “There was zero emotion. You just stood there playing the guitar again. It was a lazy song choice.” Lee Dewyze who’s coming in at 7 to 2 odds sang “The Boxer” by Simon and Garfunkel and Randy loved it when he said, “You might not even realize this but I’m one of your biggest fans”. However, adding to the “not so good” list was Tim Urban (50 to 1 odds) who sang the Goo Goo Dolls’ “Better Days” . I wasn’t impressed as well as the judges with Ellen stating, “You’re like the soup of the day. Sometimes you like the soup and sometimes you don’t like the soup. And today I didn’t like the soup.”
A questionable performance was from Aaron Kelly (25 to 1 odds) who sang “I Believe” by R Kelly and it just didn’t register for me. The judges thought he might have picked a song too big for the American Idol contestant with Simon adding, “In the real world if we heard it on the radio, we would have turned it off.” Another questionable performance was from Siobhan Magnus who’s coming in at 15 to 2 odds with “When you Believe”. A great song that was sung by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, perhaps the judges compared her to those great performers when Simon said, “I don’t think it was the right song for you. I felt like it was all over the place.”
12 to 1 odds Michael “Big Mike” Lynche was saved in Week 7 had mixed reviews from the judges with his performance of “Hero”. However, Simon thinks he’ll be around for Week 9 when he said, “I think you sang it pretty well but it felt a little artificial. I still feel that you’ll be around next week.” The best performance was saved for last with 2 to 3 odds Crystal Bowersox who had an emotional moment with “People Get Ready”. One of Alicia Key’s favorites, Crystal lost all instruments and sang from the heart with the end resulting in tears due to her dad being in the audience for the first time. Randy stood up to applaud the talented singer and said, “I’ve been a fan since day one. Gotta give you a standing ovation.” Simon also added, “That was inspirational. All of us felt that. You sang it fantastically.”
