Every Thursday morning following the previous night's American Idol elimination show, I look forward to seeing the updated American Idol betting odds at Sportsbook.com . It was no surprise to this blogger that today's updated odds looked exactly how I thought they would look.
 Following last week's "Final Seven" show, the one where contestant Matt Giraud was saved from elimination, Sportsbook.com odds listed Lil Rounds and Anoop Desai with the least chance of winning the eighth season of American Idol. And they were correct in their handicapping as Lil and Anoop were sent home Wednesday night (April 22).
American Idol is now down to its final five contestants , Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen and Matt Giraud. Sportsbook.com oddsmakers installed Southern California native Adam Lambert as the one to beat at -400 moneyline format odds. Milwaukee, Wisc., Church Music Director Danny Gokey is listed with the second best odds at +300 followed by Conway, Ark., resident Kris Allen at +500. The remaining female of the group, Allison Iraheta is considered a longshot at +1000 and Matt Giraud, at +7500 is expected to be next to go.
Sportsbook also has betting odds on the final two . Adam is again the heavy favorite at -900 with Danny at -300. With these odds, Lambert and Gokey are considered a lock to make it to the final show.
Kris has been solid throughout the competition and Allison is by far the best female but as the talent thins out heading to the finals it's no secret who the two most talented are. And picking the winner will not be difficult either. As talented as Danny is, he is not in the league with Adam. Sportsbook.com lists Adam Lambert as the top male talent (-600). Nobody else is close.
Sportsbook.com has posted some interesting and fun props bets on American Idol's final five.
Who will last longer... Adam Lambert vs. the rest of the group? Lambert is a -400 favorite. If you consider this a good bet it will cost you $400 to win $100. For the gambling novice, do not worry... If Adam wins, you get your $400 back plus the $100 winnings. This is a high value bet in my opinion.
Who will last longer...Danny Gokey or the rest of the group? Be careful with this one. Danny would have to survive over Adam. The odds are slim at +300. The Odds that Adam Lambert lasts longer than Danny are -500 to +300.
