American Idol 2010 Lee Dewyze Brings A Great Performance: Harry Connick Jr. couldn’t have been a better mentor with songs of Sinatra to the remaining five American Idol contestants in Week 11. Adding to a great night, Sinatra’s daughters were in the audience and gave Simon Cowell who is a huge Sinatra fan a monogrammed hanky of their dad’s. Mentoring in the 11th week of American Idol was Harry Connick Jr. and he didn’t just mentor but he also did the musical arrangement with his band for the contestants as well as accompanied each contestant on stage to play the piano. Aaron Kelly (15 to 1 odds) came on the stage first with “Fly Me to the Moon” and I personally thought it wasn’t good but I’m sure that won’t detour voters to vote for the kid. Simon stating, “It didn’t have conviction for me and towards the end it became a little corny. But people do like you because you try really hard.” Casey James came on next with “Blue Skies” and the judges were not at all impressed with Randy adding, “This was for me your worst performance.” The judges also weren’t feeling Crystal Bowersox (4 to 7 odds) who was beautiful in the gown she wore on stage when she performed “Summer Wind”. Simon stated, “I love this song but I don’t know if I would have chosen that song for you. I think you’ve had two ok weeks”.
So who impressed the judges? The last two performances came from Big Mike Lynche and Lee Dewyze (2 to 1 odds). Big Mike performed the classic “The Way You Look Tonight” and the judges couldn’t have been more impressed with Simon commenting, “The first three performances have been just ok but with you that all changed. That was fantastic! Well done.” Lee ended the night with a phenomenal performance of “That’s Life” and I can tell you that I loved it. Kara believes this cutie can win the competition when she said, “You can win this thing. It was amazing!”
Tune in tomorrow night to see Harry Connick Jr. perform as well as Lady Gaga but we’ll unfortunately see yet another American Idol contestant sent home. You can get all the up to date odds on your favorites at Bodog.com:
