As the eighth season of American Idol heads for the finish line, there are three contestants huffing and puffing hoping to finish first to become an American Idol. Wednesday night, we said good by to the remaining female contestant Allison Iraheta; the just turned 17 year old whose talent was beyond her years. One big question looming in future competition for the final pair; will gay rumors hurt assumed leader Adam Lambert?
Lambert , a current Hollywood resident and flamboyant in his style, is considered the leader according to oddsmakers at online sportsbook Bodog. Winning odds on Lambert are 1/3 (-300) while odds on Danny Gokey are 3/1 (+300) and Kris Allen 5/1 (+500).
While Lambert is the oddsmakers favorite, betting on Gokey or Allen might hold some value. The reason for that is Lambert's flamboyant style and reports he is gay is not sitting well with conservative voters of the evangelical movement. These folks have the speed dial set on Gokey and Allen regardless of any talent gap. While officials at American Idol have refused to share voting results with Sports-Odds.com, sources inside American Idol have indicated the vote count has recently been very close.
"I do think lifestyle could come into play here," said entertainment handicapper Reno Gold. "It’s not fair I know," but we have been polling voters and to our surprise conservative people will vote lifestyle over talent. Case in point – Lambert made the bottom two in final 5 week."
This week American Idol contestants will perform two songs, one selected by the judges and their own selection as they do battle for the final two. Sportsbook Bodog will be glad to take your bets too.
