Born and raised in West Virginia, Erica Jade Goldsmith is coming in at 40 to 1 odds for the 2010 Miss USA competition. Erica attended West Virginia University and received a Bachelor of Science degree. She is debt-free when it comes to her education due to the Promise Scholarship, which she most proud of.
“A lot of hard work goes into winning a state title, but hard work pays off,” Erica Goldsmith said on winning the West Virginia crown. “I believe the most important thing to do is to be prepared. If you practice walking, work on your interview, and be prepared, by the time you get to your state pageant, you will have no reason to be nervous. You will be ready for anything and have confidence in yourself and when you’re confident, that confidence will show in interviews and on stage and that is what I think will set you apart from the other girls.”
While at the West Virginia University, she was a reporter for the WVU news and a member of the Student Government. She involved herself in charity as well with the American Cancer Society, Walk Your Paws, Colleges Against Cancer, and the Mountaineer Maniacs.
