Steve Slater had a court hearing Tuesday in Queens after being arrested at his home for his August 9th over the top exit from the JetBlue plane he was working on as a flight attendant. What caused his mental breakdown? Slater apparently flew off the deep end after a passenger that was on a flight from Pittsburgh to JFK proceeded to grab his bag from the overhead bin while the plane was still taxing and hit the 38 year old flight attendant in the process. The passenger reportedly refused to apologize and that’s when Slater blew. He made his way to the plane’s intercom to get his rage out to the other passengers, then continued to grab beer from the plane, and then slid down the plane’s emergency exit slide. BODOG.com has made the odds that flight attendant Steve Slater took OVER 1.5 beers at +120 odds and -150 UNDER 1.5 beers.
"To the f---ing a--hole who told me to f--- off, it's been a good 28 years," said Steve Slater according to cops. "I've had it. That's it."
Steve Slater’s bail was set at $2500 after being charged with two felony counts - reckless endangerment and criminal mischief. The flight attendant’s attorney stated that his client should be out on bail late Tuesday. He’ll be making his next court appearance on September 21st. BODOG.com has made the odds that Steve Slater will be sentenced to jail at +300 odds and -500 odds that he’ll see no jail time.
"At this time, we are working with the FAA and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to investigate the incident,” JetBlue said. “At no time was the security or safety of our customers or crew members at risk."

4th of July will be a yearly event for Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest out of Coney Island, New York but we’ll have to see who will be the one to devour the most hot dogs and buns to earn themselves the 2010 title. Last year’s winner, Joey Chestnut is the obvious favorite at -1000 odds. Now that it’s been reported that Takeru Kobayashi will no longer be in the competition due to a contract dispute with Major League Eating, 2009 3rd place finisher and +700 odds favorite Patrick Bertoletti just might have a chance to come through at this year’s contest. Adding to the favorites is 2009 4th place finisher, Tim “Eater X” James who is coming in at +800 odds.
"I wish people wouldn't associate me so much with hot dogs. They're one of my worst foods in competition. Probably a half dozen men in the world are better than me – lots better,” Sonya Thomas said. "But, Nathan's is the biggie. To paraphrase George Shea, IFOCE Chairman, 'What could be more American than eating Nathan's Hot Dogs on Coney Island on the 4th of July?' That about says it all. Just look at the crowds every year."
Two of the ladies at this year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest will be giving the men a run for their money. One of the Asian persuasion ladies is South Korean Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas who is coming in at +2000 odds and will be going into the competition at 5’2 and 105 pounds. The 41 year old is a Burger King manager and assured her family back in her home country that even after competing in these sort of competitions – that her health is in check. Another woman who will be going into the competition for a win is 105 pound beauty salon owner Juliet Lee (+5000) who won Nathan’s Hot Dog qualifier in Fishkill on June 26th by scarfing down 28 ¼ hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. Now the 44 year old will be going into the July 4th contest to out beat the men and bring home a win for the ladies.
"It doesn't matter what your body size is. It doesn't matter how small the person is. It matters how big their stomach is," Juliet Lee said. "I'm very excited. I knew I was going to win."

2010 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Odds Patrick Bertoletti: Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest is a competition that has grown to be a huge annual event of the course of several years and this year many will be vying for the title. Who will that winner be at this year’s event? Check out SPORTSBOOK.com to get all the current and best odds for the 2010 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.
Coming in at a +700 odds favorite is Patrick “Deep Dish” Bertoletti who came in 3rd place in the 2009 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. Although 55 hot dogs and buns may seem a lot to you or me, it still wasn’t enough to get him his first win in the competition and it was 13 less hot dogs of the winner.
"I hope to have a good day and have fun. You don't want to have a bad day in front of the thousands that show up at Nathan's" said Patrick Bertoletti. "To be a great competitive eater you must be born with the ability to eat very fast with little or no chewing. And to have a large appetite and capacity for food."
The rock star of competitive eating, Patrick Bertoletti is usually seen sporting around a mohawk and is a 24-year-old chef. Adding to his 2010 eating competitions, “Deep Dish” was just crowned the poutine eating champion after devouring 13 pounds of fries soaked in gravy and cheese in 10 minutes. He’s admitted that he doesn’t always practice for his competitions but made it a point to say that Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest is one that he definitely practices.
"I like to get myself familiar with the food. By that I mean I will prepare or buy it and practice with it to develop a game plan," “Deep Dish” said. "My capacity is never an issue, having the best technique allows me to utilize my capacity to it's fullest. At this point in my eating career I don't usually have to practice with the food as I have experience with every food known to man. I will however practice for the Nathan's hot dog contest."

2010 Hot Dog Eating Contest Odds Tim “Eater X” Janus: This 4th of July hopefully won’t be a purge fest when contestants fill their faces with as many hot dogs and buns in the 2010 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, New York. Go to SPORTSBOOK.com to get all of the current and best odds.
One contestant who is looking to win the 2010 title in Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest is +800 odds favorite Tim “Eater X” Janus. His last year’s finish was only 4th place after chowing down on 53 hot dogs and he’ll need to finish more than that in the 10-minute competition if he wants to beat out the tough competition.
"I think I'll do fine. I really love that contest," Tim Janus said. "My goal is to eat in such a way that I feel like I'm eating quickly. I've eaten hot dogs enough times to know if I'm eating well, and I'm always hoping to push myself to the point of feeling like I'm doing that. There's a rhythm to eating hot dogs well. Your hands are working. Your jaw is working. Your throat is working. And hopefully they're all working together"
I’m sure “Eater X” will be coming into the 2010 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest with something unusual as he’s known for being a spectacle in the yearly competition. The organizers of the contest prohibited the use of signs in the competition after Tim brought a sign declaring that “Harry Potter character Hermione dies” in 2008. He is now known for the generous amounts of paint that he uses to paint his face to give him more of a gladiator feel.
Janus added, "Sometimes I'll cook up some hot dogs and put everything to the test. And sometimes I'll just close my eyes and pretend to eat hot dogs – moving my arms, pretending to dunk, and pretending to swallow until I'm satisfied that my muscles know exactly what to do."

2010 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Odds Favor Joey Chestnut: It’s that time of year again when most Americans will be celebrating the 4th of July but then there are others who will be in Coney Island, New York to see who will be the next winner of the 2010 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. Last year’s winner, Joey Chestnut will be there once again to defend his 2009 title. Check out SPORTSBOOK.com to get all the current and best odds for the 2010 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.
Joey Chestnut who is coming in as a -1000 odds favorite to win the 2010 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4th will be defending his 2009 title after winning the contest last year. He will do his best to shove as many hot dogs and buns down his throat to repeat his win for a back to back victory and earn himself that mustard-yellow belt.
"I'm fasting hard, practicing hard, and recovering, paying attention to my body," said Joey Chestnut, who ate 68 hot dogs last year. "I've been running more, trying to get a little bit healthier, but I love to eat, this is what I do."
Last year Joey Chestnut was able to consume 68 hot dogs and buns to defeat 18 other eaters in the 10 minute competition. Probably his biggest competitor would be 2009 runner-up, Takeru Kobayashi who was able to consume a close 65 hot dogs and buns. However, it looks like Chestnut won’t have to worry about his rival since it’s been reported that Kobayashi pulled out of the competition due to a dispute with Major League Eating.
"If Kobayashi doesn't show, there will other challengers," Chestnut said. "I'm just going out there to get a new record and eat as many hot dogs as I can."
