Kevin Keegan will complete a sensational return to Newcastle it has been announced. It rates as one of the most amazing comebacks in football history. Newcastle's match betting odds at BodogLife.com will shrink now that Keegan is manager.
Keegan reached legendary status in his first spell at St James´s Park when he held the reins from 1992-1997. The bookies have been hit hard by Keegan´s appointment as the 56-year-old was not expected to replace Sam Allardyce.
Frenchmen Gerard Houllier and Didier Deschamps had been mentioned about the job but Newcastle´s shock announcement has put paid to all the rumours. Keegan is expected to invite Geordie legend Alan Shearer onto the management team.
 "The Messiah" as he is known on Tyneside earned Newcastle promotion in 1993 and came within a whisker of winning the title in the 1995-96 season. However, they surrendered a 12 point lead to Manchester United.
After his spell at Newcastle he managed Fulham, England and Manchester City respectively.
Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp was the first choice of owner Mike Ashley and chairman Chris Mort. Lucky for them they didn´t get him? However, Redknapp decided to stick with Portsmouth.
Blackburn manager Mark Hughes as well as Shearer was linked with the hot seat.
