Manchester United football manager Sir Alex Ferguson has refuted suggestions that he made rude gestures to Reading fans at the end of his side´s 2-0 win in Hampshire.  Manchester United´s betting odds for the 2008 Champions League are 5/1.

The fiery Scotsman reckons he was "expressing relief" at winning what he says was one of United´s toughest games of the season.  However, TV replays show that Fergie´s actions look like he was taunting the home fans in responce to insults by home supporters.

On another subject, Fergie has come under fire for agreeing to play his side in a testimonial for former Saudi Arabia international Sami Al-Jaber. It means United´s players will face an exhausting flight to the Middle East - a match which is believed to earn the club at least £1million.

"This trip won't do us any harm," he told British media. We shall return on Thursday to give us three days to prepare for the game against Tottenham."

United face Spurs in what looks like a cracking FA Cup game on Sunday.
