Furious Arsenal manger Arsene Wenger has made a surprising U turn after he savaged Birmingham defender for a tackle that seriously hurt his player Eduardo. Betway.com have bets on Arsenal to win the Uefa Champions League and Preniership. The French man has now retracted his comments and says that calling for Birmingham defender Martin Taylor to be banned for life was an over the top criticism. The injury looks horrific of TV replays. The match finished 2-2 and that result is a serious dent to Arsenal´s title chances. Rivals Manchester United thrashed Newcastle United 5-1 at St James´s Park.
In the incident at St Andrews Taylor was shown a red card in the opening moments of the 2-2 draw after he badly clipped the Gunners striker, who as a consequence sustained a broken leg. Straight after the match a fuming Wenger commented: "This guy should never play football again. What is he doing on the football pitch?" But the Arsenal boss said on Saturday night, after he had colled off: "I feel that my comments about Martin Taylor were excessive. I said what I did immediately after the game in the heat of the moment." He added: "It was a highly emotional afternoon and we were all shocked by the injury to Eduardo," said Wenger, who expects the Croatian to miss this summer's European Championships." Eduardo will now miss the rest of the season and means Arsenal are short of cover in the forward department.
