Manchester United dominated Liverpool 3-0 to move five points clear of second place Chelsea in the Soccer Betting Premier League.  Wes Brown scored a first half goal while Ronaldo and Nani scored in the second half for United.  Liverpool played much of the game without Javier Mascherano who was sent off for arguing.

Liverpool could not match United in the second half playing with only 10 men.  Goalkeeper Pepe Reina played well stopping Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez but United kept the pressure on and after Reina stopped Ronaldo again it resulted in a corner in the 79th minute that Ronaldo headed home.  Two minutes later Nani added the third goal.

Chelsea did their part to stay within striking distance of Manchester United getting a huge 2-1 home win against Arsenal.  Didier Drogba scored twice in the second half as Chelsea came from behind to win 2-1. Bacary Sagna had given Arsenal the 1-0 lead and the Gunners were looking to end Chelsea’s long winning streak but Drogba took over and saved the Blues.  Chelsea has now gone 78 games at home without a loss.  The win put Chelsea into second place and dropped Arsenal into third place.  With seven games left and United still having to visit Chelsea, the race may not be over.

Arsenal scored first in the 59th minute as Sagna headed home a corner from Cesc Fabregas.  Arsenal had earlier chances but Robin van Persie had missed twice.  Drogba also missed in the first half and Saloman Kalou missed on a great chance before the half.  After Sagna’s goal in the 59th minute it looked like Chelsea’s home unbeaten streak would end but Drogba decided that was not to happen.  He scored in the 73rd minute after getting a ball that came off Frank Lampard.  Eight minutes later he took Joe Cole’s free kick and got his shot past Almunia to give Chelsea the 2-1 lead.  Drogba nearly got the hat trick but Almunia made a great save to stop him just minutes later.

This week should see United and Chelsea get home wins as United hosts Aston Villa and Chelsea hosts Middlesbrough.  Arsenal could fall even farther behind as they have to play a road contest at Bolton.
