Chile 2010 FIFA World Cup Odds: One team that stirred up controversy at the 1990 World Cup qualifiers is the Chile national football team but will they be on fire in South Africa? Go to SPORTSBOOK.com to get all of the current 2010 FIFA World Cup odds.
Coming in at +6600 odds, the Chile national football team has had their share of up and down moments since 1930 in the FIFA World Cup. The farthest the team has gotten in the championship was third place in 1962 when they hosted the World Cup. 1990 brought the team to be disqualified due to the goalkeeper Roberto Rojas claiming to be hit by a firework thrown from the stands by a Brazilian fan but it was later determined that he was lying. They were disqualified for the 1990 World Cup and then banned for the 1994 World Cup. They qualified for the 1998 World Cup in which was their last qualification but couldn’t get passed the second round.

Chile will be making their way to the first round of the 2010 World Cup against Honduras, Spain, and Switzerland after drawing Group H. Their first match up will be against Honduras on June 16th out of Nelspruit and will be the 15th overall match of the World Cup. Key player to look out for is striker Humberto Suazo who has a successful strike rate. Another player to watch for is Matias Fernandez who has the focus needed on the field.
"The most important thing at a World Cup is to make sure the players are in top form and that depends on so many factors,” Chile manager Marcello Biesla said. “Some of them you can control, but some are the result of everything the player has been through in the previous 10 months. I hope everything comes together for Chile.”
