Michael Ballack Injured and Doubtful for Euro 2008 Final: Germany vs Spain

Michael Ballack Injured and Doubtful for Euro 2008 Final Germany vs Spain: In order to make an intelligent wager, you have to get informed. And what exactly is important to know in order to place a winning wager in Sunday’s Euro 2008 Final: Germany vs Spain Final? Players’ availability: not to mention, their individual role within that system of play, and of course, the players’ significance to the team.

Well, Germany just got dealt a huge blow, as their 31-year-old captain, Michael Ballack, is doubtful to play in Sunday’s Euro 2008 Final: Germany vs Spain.

It appears that an ongoing calf injury (which impeded him to practice Friday and Saturday), will keep Ballack sidelined and out of Sunday’s starting rotation for the Germans.

Ballack’s injury actually balances things out for both sides in the Final, as I had Germany just favorite to win as underdogs after David Villa was ruled out because of a thigh injury.

Chelsea’s midfielder Ballack suffered the injury in training on Friday and will be desperate to play, having missed out on the 2002 World Cup final because of a suspension. Germany’s coach Joachim Low spoke to the media regarding his captain’s health:

"On Friday he had problems with his right calf, the muscle has hardened and he couldn't possibly participate in the training, so we will have to wait and see how things develop. Our medical people are working round the clock, but we have to think seriously about what's going to happen if Michael Ballack cannot play.”

According to Germany coach there are two possible scenarios if Ballack can’t play: “Tim Borowski or Bastian Schweinsteiger, both of them can take his position, but we will decide that on Sunday."
