Manchester United football star Cristiano Ronaldo notched an 88th-minute penalty to hand kick to hand his club a valuable 2-1 Barclays Premier League win against Everton at Old Trafford.
United were 5/13 to win the game. The Portuguese player scored a brilliant goal earlier in the game but Tim Cahill´s strike looked like it was enought to earn the Toffees a draw.
However Stephen Pienaar brought Ryan Giggs to the ground in the penalty area and Ronaldo scored his 16th goal this season. The win ensures that United remain just a point behind leaders Arsenal. Ronaldo´s incredible talents helped open the scoring. After picking up a Carlos Tevez square pass he swerved Lee Carsley's attempts at a tackle and struck a dipping shot that hummed past Everton keeper Tim Howard. Everton had been holding their own up to that point. But five minutes later Tim Cahill finished off a far-post cross with a great header. The most likely outcome looked a draw until Ronaldo´s winner arrived so close to the end. The Portuguese pin up sent Howard the wrong way to send the Old Trafford crowd into raptures.
