Bolton have rejected a significant offer from Chelsea for striker Nicolas Anelka.
Chelsea are 9/2 to win the FA Cup. The Blues coach Avram Grant wants the Frenchman to boost his strikeforce now that Didier Drogba is on African Nations Cup duty. Chelsea's official website has a statement on it that reads: "The club can confirm it has made an official offer for the transfer of Nicolas Anelka, which is being discussed with Bolton Wanderers." Anelka, who has also played for Arsenal, Real Madrid, Man City and Liverpool has banged in 11 goals this season in a struggling Bolton side - the hallmark of a class striker. Anelka put pen to paper on a new four-year contract earlier this season.
And his magnificent exploits on the pitch has seen him linked to bigger clubs. He is valued at £10million and even stated last week to a French newspaper that Bolton and Chelsea were discussing a possible deal. Bolton boss Gary Megson is obviously desperate to keep him at he club - especially with a likely relegation fight approaching.
