English Championship Stoke City target Salif Diao says that Premiership suitors are waiting in the wings. The 30-year-old midfielder's agent, Charles Collymore, will meet City boss Tony Pulis to discuss a deal following his successful loan spell last season. If Stoke retain Diao www.sports-odds.com make them a great bet to win the Championship. But competition to secure his signature will be stiff as a clutch of Premiership and Championship clubs are sniffing around the player.
Diao, who is on holiday visiting family in Senegal, told The Sentinel: "I don't really know what my future is, but my agent is due to meet Tony Pulis on Monday. I have had interest from elsewhere, including three Premiership and five Championship clubs. I hope it can be sorted out by the end of next week." Diao, pictured right, insists the Potters are still in the hunt to retain his services next term, adding: "Of course I can see myself playing at City next year. “We had a great season last time and the atmosphere around the place was great. City have a Premiership squad, and it would be a big plus to go to a club like that. They have a great chance of promotion next season with the players they have." Pulis is keen to bring back the Senegalese international, but fears financial restrictions could be a sticking point. "We will speak with Diao's agent to see what we can do," he said. "But we have a budget we have to stick to, and that is the bottom line." Stoke have handed a trial to Serbian-born striker Daniel Bogdanovic. The 27-year-old joined up with the rest of the squad this week, but his progress was cut short by a thigh injury which rules him out of tomorrow's pre-season opener at Newcastle Town (2.30pm kick-off). Bogdanovic helped Marsax-lokk win the Maltese Premier title last season, netting 31 goals along the way.
