Jr. Welterweight contender and I.B.F title holder Paulie Malignaggi took another step towards superstardom with a close 12 round unanimous decision over contender Herman Ngoudjo. I thought that the -800 Malignaggi was laying was heavy and is it turned out Ngoudjo showed to be a capable fighter that almost pulled off the upset. Final scores read: 117-111, 116-113, and 115-113. Malignaggi started fast pumping his pinpoint jab into the Canadian Ngoudjo’s face for the first two rounds. In the 12th Herman sensed that he was behind on the scorecards and mounted a late rally by digging hooks downstairs but it was too little too late as he couldn’t land the bomb that he was looking for. For Paulie he has a lot of options in the talent deep Jr. Welterweight division but he got hit more than expected against Ngoudjo and he still has room for improvement.
