Mollo started fast using plenty of movement and hard looping punches to score to the body. Golota looked stiff and slow from the outset but he still showed sound technique catching Mollo with hard jabs. In the second Mollo was temporarily stunned with a long Golota right hand that caused the Italian to clinch. Golota was the straighter puncher using the more accurate shots inside of Mollo’s wide punches.
Around the 5th Mike started to slow down significantly as he continually ate right hands from Golota. Golota’s right eye began swelling angrily around the 8th round but he hung tough as he showed better power and strength than Mollo down the stretch. Mollo showed plenty of heart down the stretch fighting gamely but dead tires as he staggered around the ring from fatigue.
In the end the 40 year-old Golota proved to critics that doubted his fighting spirit that the Polish bruiser still has plenty of fight left as he outhustled the 27 year-old Mollo down the stretch. Final scores read: 118-109, 116-110 and 116-112 all for Golota.
