This past weekend not all of the mixed martial arts action happened in the UFC Octagon. Nick “the Goat” Thompson successfully defended his BodogFight welterweight title against an opponent most people do not know. Nick is also was a key training partner of Brock Lesnar, who saw defeat this past weekend. Here is a quick exclusive statement that Nick Thompson gave to Sports-Odds.com after his victory over John Troyer.
Nick “The Goat” Thompson beat the Kentucky fighter John Troyer, who laid on the pain early in the first round. John pounced on “The Goat” right at the opening bell. The champion bloodied up his nose, but in the end, Nick was victorious in the Tuff-N-Uff event sponsored by BodogFight. Thompson ended the fight in the first round getting his opponent’s back.
Here is a quick exclusive comment from the Champion Nick Thompson on his win, the future and Brock Lesnar:
“John Troyer was one of the tougher guys I have fought. I hit him with some of the hardest shots I have ever landed and he came back at me every time. [Regarding his next fight] Right now, there is no one left in Bodog for me to fight.”
When asked about his nose from the fight and if it was broken:
“No, but it hurts like hell and I can't breathe through it.”
That means the Sherdog website got it wrong when they proclaimed Nick Thompson broke his nose in their report on the fight. Thompson will be focusing on finishing law school and taking the Bar Exam. He then made sure to let us know,“I will be buying an X-Box as soon as I finish the exam. I am excited about that. “
In regards to his training partner in Minnesota and former WWE wrestler and NCAA wrestler Brock Lensar:
“I wish Brock would have relaxed and picked his shots a little more. He hits ungodly hard… I would love to see him fight Sylvia. I think he would beat-up on Tim.”
Thanks to “The Goat” for a moment of his time on this Superbowl Sunday.
