With the recent quote from MMAJunkie.com, Tim Sylvia has said he feels disrespected by the UFC. Brock Lesner was paid and hyped more than twice what he was in the last UFC event. Not only was he nearly an afterthought on the event poster, he made $100,000 for his loss, while Brock made $250,000. Recall also that Tim would have also had to fight up to five rounds while the former pro-wrestler with only one MMA fight, had three to survive at most. Bet on UFC 82 at BodogLife.com

On MMAjunkie, Tim Sylvia stated: “In case you didn’t know, my manager runs M-1 Global, so I have a pretty good in, so we will see what happens in the next few months.”

Three Former UFC Champions, 1 Fight Left and Then Gone? It is true that he does obviously have a connection with Monte Cox, his manager and power player at M-1. Like Ben Rothwell, who was pulled from the IFL by manager Monte Cox for possibly greener fields, it is possible Tim could leave too.

Likely it is just a way to get a better deal on the next contract, but in a recent interview with a Canadian TV channel, Dana White mentioned the worst part of MMA for him is re-signing his talent.

Tim is one of three former UFC Champions who have one fight left on their contracts and have either hinted or proclaimed they are going to leave. Apprentice TV show  famed Huntington Beach Bad Boy Tito Ortiz, signed for his last fight on his contract to be against the undefeated Lyoto Machida. Tito has said he wants more respect and more money and has held out in the past on Dana White, once very publicly after UFC 51. His company Punishment Athletics was digitally removed from UFC footage as proof of the bad will. Lyoto has wins over Stephan Bonnar, Rich Franklin, BJ Penn, Vernon White and most recently, Sokoudjou at UFC 79. Early betting odds may favor Lyoto while fan based betting may lean towards the popular ex-champ. Bet on UFC 82 at BodogLife.com.

Also a former champion, Andrie Arlovski, as mentioned previously on this website:  Andrie Arlovski has one fight left on his contract.

Anyone could imagine if M-1 or Elite XC grabbed up all of the soon to be free agents, the match ups that could be produced.

A few possibilities include:

  • If Ricco Rodriguez wins at next week’s Elite XC, a rematch with Tim Sylvia.
  • Andrie Arlovski, being the first real opponent for Fedor in a year.
  • Tito Ortiz having the his 10 year anniversary rematch against Frank Shamrock.
