With the weekend drawing near, people are clear on who they think will win the battle of "street cred" in the Kimbo Slice vs Tank Abbott MMA Fight. Elite XC and Showtime bring a good card of big bangers to South Florida to air on Showtime Saturday night at 10pm EST.  Sportsbook.com has Kimbo Slice as the favorite with -450 odds over Tank Abbott who is listed as a heavy +300 underdog.

For those impressing their loved ones with picking winners this Valentine's week, here are a few points to consider:

When it comes to Tank vs Kimbo on this weekend’s Miami Elite XC card, most people agree about the outcome. One person I spoke with said it better than I could.

Kimbo Slice vs Tank Abbott EliteXCIllinois sanctioned MMA referee Timmy Front said that he would choose Kimbo Slice as his pick for the main event. Specifically, Kimbo by KO. Timmy believes the Miami Street fighter will  come “out the gate like a man possessed, gets Tank up against the fence and T's off.” Then adds, the only way for the UFC vet to will is if “Tank catches him on the way in.”

Tank and Kimbo both did public workouts this week. Kimbo looked like a pro coming in with a group of twlve beating up on a guy not nearly his size. Tank on the otherhand was said to look sluggish and showing his age. With only a single win in years, and seven losses in the same amount of time, maybe the likely winner would be Kimbo, but the cash you could make on a Tank Abbott upset would appeal to some.

Ricco Rodriguez is another story, in a news brief I wrote about him earlier this month, I wrote that:

“The canceling of the WCO show and Ricco’s new found mainstream fame thanks to VH1’s Celebrity Rehab, has made Ricco a perfect opponent for Antonio. Elite XC probably figures if “Big Foot” wins, he beats a guy who has beaten Randy Couture, held UFC gold and has VH1 audience name recognition. If Ricco should win, a former champion is on board to add legitimacy to the new fight organization.

One concern though is what impact the VH1 reality show will have on a man who has beaten Andrei Arlovski, Paul Buentello, Travis Fulton and Jeff Monson. It was only about a week ago most people did not know that Ricco was involved with a chemically caused car accident where he switched his girlfriend’s body into the driver’s seat to keep blame away from himself. He also admitted publicly to use of marijuana and cocaine, and having lost custody of his son. He also has made it public that he was sexually abused as a child. Having the impact of the world see this on mainstream TV seemed to have some impact on him as his voice was somewhat shaky on the phone over the weekend when discussing the episode. He also has to see how the other stars of the show, be it a Baldwin brother, former pro-wrestler Chyna or Mary Cary thought of him as he was a late addition to the cast.”

Ricco arrived to Miami around dinner time last night after a day of travel. He takes on a very game opponent in the Cage Warrior Champion and American Top Team member in Antonio “Big Foot” Silva. Sportsbook.com has Antonio Silva as a -325 odds favorite over Ricco Rodriguez who is listed as a +225 underdog. Because of my connection with both, I would rather not predict this one.
