Elite XC Miami Results, Kimbo Slice Wins, Knock Outs All Night

by Abe Luciano on Monday, February 18th, 2008

In a night full of knock outs, a little bit of blood and a thug groupie magnet, Elite XC brought home a good show for South Florida and Showtime viewers.  Kimbo took home his predicted win while new comers like Brett Rogers beat the well seasoned veteran James Thompson.  SBGglobal.com had Kimbo Slice listed as a -450 odds favorite to beat Tank Abbott

In one of the best knock outs of the night, Yves Edwards knocked his opponent out in the last second of the first round when he jumped from one foot on the ground, one being held by Edson, to knee his opponent to seeing stars. Scot Smith dispatched his Australian foe, while the toughest decision for the judges that evening was in the bout between a former UFC champion and an up and coming giant.

Elite XC Miami Results, Kimbo Slice Wins, Knock Outs All Night In a press release by the American Top Team, they stated that “Antonio "Pezao" Silva took on former UFC Heavyweight Champ Ricco Rodriguez. In round one Antonio got off to a slow start where he managed to land a solid right but not much more during the round. Round two Antonio was more active stopping a taking by Ricco and landing some shots inside his guard were he opened a cut under Riccos eye which the doctors checked and then resumed the fight. Antonio went for a Anaconda choke but Ricco did a good job of keeping his base not to get rolled over.  Both fighters scored with taledowns in round 3, with Antonio scoring a little more with strikes to pull out a split decision win over the former champ.

Approximately 3 weeks ago, Antonio suffered a complete tear of his mcl during training, while preparing for this fight.  Antonio made the decision and was determined to fight no matter. The injury slowed his training camp and it showed in last night’s fight.” The judges scored that bout where some saw it going the way it was described by Antonio’s teammates, and another who would give Ricco the nod. The first round saw two Judges giving Ricco the round, all three gave Antonio the 2nd and two gave Antonio the third round.  Before Kimbo Slice came to the cage to collect his win , Miami rapper Pitbull hit the stage. It may have been the best time of the evening for a true MMA fan to take a bathroom break.
