Jackson took out Wanderlei Silva at UFC 92 so it is surprising to see Jardine getting the bout against Jackson since he lost to Silva. Jardine actually trains with Rashad Evans so perhaps that had something to do with the matchup.
"I think [the UFC] is probably expecting me to lose," Jardine said. "I think they've put me in other fights where they expected me to lose, but that didn't happen. I guess I'm the guy they get to step in whenever they need somebody." Jardine has definitely been a spoiler in the UFC before as he defeated Liddell and Griffin so he could be a surprise choice for gamblers who bet on UFC 96.
