Manny Pacquiao vs Joshua Clottey Fight Picks: The biggest fight of the new year is here, as 7-time world champion Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao [2/11 or -550 ML] takes on yet another massive welterweight in Joshua “Grand Master” Clottey [7/2 or +350 ML] in tonight’s main event from Cowboys Stadium. “I just want to make my people happy,” Pacquiao said this week. “I don’t worry about a knockout. It’s nothing personal. I’m just going to do my job.”

All the exciting betting action for this terrific fight is picking up speed. Please visit SPORTSBOOK.com now and bet on who will win this fight, as well as predictions in which round the Manny Pacquiao vs Joshua Clottey fight will end.

For Clottey, this is the opportunity of a lifetime, as he has the chance to beat the man many consider the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Everyone seems to be making a big deal about the contrast between Pacquiao’s speed and power to Clottey’s size and brute force. Is going to be interesting to see which traits will overwhelm the other from the opening bell.

According to the Golden Boy, Oscar De La Hoya, size doesn’t really matter when you can’t hit what you can’t see. “He’s so fast,” De La Hoya said. “You’re looking for him here and he’s over there. And when he throws his punches, they’re coming so quickly, it’s hard to see them all.”

But according to the former Ghanaian champ, who is known for having great defense, De La Hoya’s demise will not be his own. “Believe me when I tell you this,” Clottey said. “If I want to block punches, I can block. I won’t get hit by those.”

Many believe that if Pacquiao is to lose tonight, it will be because of his own mental state and how satisfied he is with being the first 7-time champ in seven different weight classes. After an athlete has accomplished and dominated as much as the Filipino has done in the sport of boxing, they tend to get lackadaisical. This is the biggest threat to Manny Pacquiao’s legacy. His longtime trainer, Freddie Roach doesn’t seem to think so.

“They got lazy,” Roach explained. “They get satisfied. With Pacquiao, I haven’t seen that yet. I’m waiting for the day he comes through the doors of the gym and doesn’t have the work intensity he’s had for so long. He works harder today than he did eight years ago. He just likes to work.

“He’s never satisfied. We’ll come up with moves to make counters. I’ll show him how I want it done and he’ll show me how he likes it. If we find no holes with it, we go with it, but if we see a mistake, we erase it and try to figure out a way to do it better.”
