UFC Live Odds: Brendan Schaub vs Chase Gormley: After a disappointing showing in The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale against Roy “Big Country” Nelson, former NFL player (5-1-0) Brendan “The Hybrid” Schaub [-265 ML] will get another chance to showcase his skills when he faces (6-1-0) Chase Gormley [+205 ML] in tonight’s UFC Live on Versus.
“It was definitely a tough one to swallow,” Schaub said. “I still haven't watched the fight, to be honest with you. My coaches gameplanned it, they critiqued it and let me know what I need to work on. But for me, it's just something that took a while to get over.”
This fight will be in the heavyweight division as part of the fight card’s preliminary set. Nevertheless, Schaub believes that he can get his fight from being an unaired prelim, to making it to the main broadcast. “All I've got to do is do my job, and I'll make TV,” Schaub said. “I'll be on TV.”
This UFC Live Odds event gets underway tonight at 9 PM ET (7 PM MT) from the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colorado. Schaub admitted to being disappointed after suffering his first professional loss, but also said he was proud of his performance up until he got caught. “For me, I live for those moments,” he said. “Unfortunately, it didn't go my way, but I showed up. It wasn't like Roy, who has been ranked in the top-10 heavyweights — this world-class MMA fighter — it's not like he just whipped my butt all over the cage… I live for those moments, and I can't wait to get back to the main event.”
