Alfonso Gomez is out to shock the world and tonight when he faces Miguel Cotto for the W.B.A welterweight title he will do just that if he beats the top-5 pound for pound killer Cotto, as Gomez is a +800 boxing betting underdog. The 27-year old Mexican/American Alfonso Gomez, 18-3-2, 8 KO’s, has proven to be a legit top-15 contender with his 8th round KO demoltion of fading Italian warrior Arturo Gatti in his last fight. Cotto, 31-0, 25 KO’s, is regarded as the #1 man right behind Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the welterweight division after outfighting “Sugar” Shane Mosely for a 12-round UD in his last bout. The OVER\UNDER is 9.5 rounds with the OVER at -170 for Miguel Cotto vs Alfonso Gomez. The 5’9” Gomez will be the bigger man in this fight and he has shown that his technique of fighting inside or outside are both above-average. Gomez is a decent puncher but Cotto has the heavier hands in this fight by a good margin. Gomez might also be a tad faster than Cotto but Gomez has less stamina than the iron-willed Puerto Rican Cotto who takes opponents legs with his piercing body shots. Cotto can be dropped but he has never been kept down.
Does the bigger Gomez have the firepower to keep the hard hitting superstar down for the 10 count? Both of these guys swell up will this fight go past 10 rounds? Buy my winning boxing bet with expert analysis on this fight tonight between Miguel Cotto vs Alfonso Gomez.
