UFC 83 was a redemption ground for welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre who dismantled his former conqueror Matt Serra via. 2nd round stoppage. Serra showed the effects of one year on inactivity as he got winded and St. Pierre took advantage with his elite MMA talent. Georges St.Pierre was a 5-1 UFC betting favorite against Matt Serra.

For the duration of the 10 minute bout Georges was a determined fighter that was not to be denied as UFC 83 Fight Resultshe overwhelmed Serra. Pierre put Serra on his back time and time again manhandling the weaker man and eventually stopping him at 4:45 of round 2 with nasty body strikes. It takes an excellent fighter to come back from a KO loss to defeat the same fighter and St. Pierre did just tonight proving to be a top pound-4-pound UFC fighter.

On the undercard a game Travis Lutter, (9-5), gave it his all as a 3-1 UFC betting underdog against Rich Franklin, (23-2), but was stopped in the second round on strikes. The mega popular Franklin landed a brutal leg kick that had Lutter shaken and followed up with a barrage of lefts, rights and knees that forced a referee stoppage.
