Oscar De La Hoya looked sharp in his 12-round tune up fight for Floyd Mayweather Jr. with a sharp 12-round decision win over Steve Forbes. Final scores read: 120-108 and 119-109 twice. Both fighters showed their Mayweather training influence as they boxed, countered and jabbed effectively but Oscar De La Hoya, 39-5, 30 KO’s, was just better than Forbes, 33-6, 9 KO’s, in all phases. Bodoglife.com had Oscar De La Hoya as a -2000 boxing betting favorite in Oscar De La Hoya vs Steve Forbes.

The big question going in was whether or not Forbes could survive the distance against the bigger man and he proved to be durable as he survived the brutal body shots and a few hard head shots. De La Oscar De La Hoya Boxes Beautifully in Win Over Steve ForbesHoya’s jab proved to be the difference as he fired stiff hard jabs from the outset landing 127 jabs to Forbes 69. Oscar kept the combinations flowing throughout the night and had Forbes hurt in the 7th, 9th and 10th rounds. Forbes suffered a nice cut over the right eye after catching some leather along the ropes in the 6th but the cut was never a factor. THE OVER\UNDER on the Oscar De La Hoya vs Steve Forbes fight was 10.5 rounds with the OVER at -330 boxing betting odds.

Forbes showed that he can be competitive at the next level but he has very little punching power. Oscar De La Hoya looked relaxed and boxed beautifully but I still would be surprised to see him reverse the outcome of his first fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. The Boxing betting odds on Oscar De La Hoya vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. II have Mayweather Jr. as a 5-2 favorite.
