Active boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya, has sold a minority share of his Boxing company Golden Boy Promotions to global powerhouse, AEG, who also owns the Staple Center, Sacramento Kings and LA Galaxy. Golden Boy Promotion est. 2001 is the new big contender in boxing promoting and now De Le Hoya is on par with Don King, Gary Shaw, and Bob Arum’s Top Rank Boxing. The move to merge with AEG is big for boxing and very, very, big for the Golden Boy’s pockets.

Oscar De La Hoya had this to say about the partnership: "The idea behind this was the need to develop the next generation," said Richard Schaefer, chief executive of Golden Boy. "If you're a young and talented fighter and you see what Golden Boy now offers . . . no other promoter can offer as much to the young kid wanting to become a big star." Oscar had made it clear that this is in his final year of his boxing career with a rematch against Floyd Mayweather Jr. already scheduled September 20th.
