Mayorga, who has been training MMA for 2½ months, doesn’t believe Thomas will have any significant advantage in the cage. With Thomas likely to try and take the fight to the ground — especially after appeared rocked by a back-hand slap from the Nicaraguan during a press conference — Mayorga claims to be prepared for whatever his opponent throws at him.
“I’ve picked it up quickly,” Mayorga said of MMA. “I know how to get out of the moves, the jiu-jitsu moves, he might try. I’ve been practicing my takedown defense.”
