The original Jackson vs Evans fight was scheduled for UFC 107, but Rampage had an acting gig he could not get refuse. Seven UFC events later, the two are ready to get it on. All that is left is to see who has had the best training as well as who can execute their game plan.
Rampage comes into this fight with some new training from Muay Thai trainer, Lance Gibson. Gibson fought at UFC 24 and 29, and also worked with Jackson on the set of the film “A-Team”. But many are wondering if he will be ready on the ground.
"I like punching people and I don't mind getting hit," said Jackson. "Even if Rashad does take me down, I'm not scared even to be on my back. I'm not even impressed with his ground and pound."
Rampage then went on to mention the top wrestlers he has battled with such as Matt Lindland and Dan Henderson.
"It's kind of funny to me, it seems like people forgot all the fights I've done. I wrestled in high school and college too," said Jackson. "Just because I don't like shooting on people, taking them down and laying on the ground and stuff and fighting a boring fight, people think I can't wrestle."
Although Rampage claims to have his wrestling skills down, those who are picking Rashad to win know its due to his highly proficient ground game.
"I'm just going to go in there and see what he gives me. If he can't stop me from taking him down and stop me from advancing my position on the ground. Then I'm going to do the groundwork," explained Evans.
The winner of this fight will be the next challenger to the new UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
