Kelly Pavlik showed why he is one of the best in the world Saturday night as he crumpled overmatched foe Gary Lockett by way of 3rd round KO. The HBO televise W.B.C middleweight title bout was Pavlik’s first defense of his boxing title. The Enzo Calzaghe trained Gary Lockett came out for round one wild and Pavlik coolly broke him down with digging bodyshot counters and short punches to the head.

By round 2 Pavlik had Lockett completely sized up as he picked of his challengers punches and opened up with a fuel fussalge of punches that quickly dropped Lockett to a knee. Bloodied, Lockett gamely beat the count and continued fighting wildly before Pavlik began hammering home right hands that dropped Lockett for a second time with about :30 seconds left in round 2. Lockett bravely stood up right and Pavlik continued to methodically hammer Lockett with every punch in the book.

In round 3 Pavlik showed his killer instinct by throwing a few quick jabs to set up  monster right hand that put the beaten up Lockett down to a knee for a third time. Gary Lockett’s corner wisely threw in the towel and saved their man from another deadly Pavlik barrage. By the numbers Pavlik’s win was really impressive as he outlanded Lockett 92-32 in Total punches. Pavlik landed an incredible 55% of his powerpunches in the fight with a Total of 66 landed in the fight 7:40 duration. The win by Pavlik still keeps the door open for huge fight between light-heavyweight champion Joe Calzaghe the winner of the Edison Miranda vs Arthur Abraham fight.
