Powell is a strong southpaw with power in both hands and sound technique boxing with his hard right jab. Powell has only been once beaten by southpaw Kassim Ouma in a razor close 10-round decision in August 2006. Powell has exploded with KO wins in his last two fights against the respectable Terrance Cauthen KO4, and a tomato can in Kevin Finley KO1. Powell, 23-1, 14 KO’s, has been dropped in his career but has shown heart to get up and win those fights. Sechew Powell vs DeAndre Lattimore Boxing odds preview OVER\UNDER odds are 8.5 rounds with the OVER at -130 .
DeAndre Lattimore is a heavy handed St.Louis southpaw that is an aggressive boxer puncher ranked #58 in the world. DeAndre Lattimore, 19-1, 16 KO’s, has only lost once in his career to a much more experienced fighter Ian Gardner in January of 2007. Since the loss to Gardner via KO3, Lattimore has gone 7-0 with 5 KO’s with his most recent win being against a golden gloves champion in Durrell Richardson W10. Being trained in Vegas with the well-regarded Kenny Adams, Lattimore will be sharp as a tack come tonight on ESPN Wednesday Night Fights.
Powell has used his southpaw style to make his opponents frustrated but tonight he will meet a southpaw that can punch so Powell could be vulnerable early to the young bull. Sechew has only so-so footwork but his defense and ring vision are very good. Look for Sechew to work off the jab and try to hold off the forward moving Lattimore by using ring generalship.
