“Wanderlei has done more in this sport than I have,” Franklin said. “I have a lot of respect and admiration for him as a fighter, much like the fans.”

The big guys gave the fans a great show, as they both came out and showcased their superior talents. In the end, Velasquez reigned supreme with his wrestling, dominating Kongo on the ground (G N P) on his way to a Unanimous Decision victory.

Going into this heavyweight bout, UFC 99 Results Odds makers had listed Cain Velasquez [-200 ML] as the UFC 99 Results Sports Odds favorite to defeat a massive underdog Cheick Kongo [+165 ML].

Velasquez once again proved to be a force to be reckoned in the heavyweight division, as he remains undefeated, capturing his fourth consecutive victory in the UFC. His next opponent should be another undefeated wrestler and title contender in Shane Carwin (11-0), who’s coming off an impressive KO-victory over Gabriel Gonzaga.
