However, the one thing that Griffin has consistently shown since making it to the UFC has been heart.

The guy can take a beating like the best of them, but yet his never-say-die attitude doesn’t seem to dim out. Coming into UFC 86, the challenger Forrest Griffin was a huge +215 betting odds underdog against the seasoned favorite Rampage Jackson -275.

Griffin was able to take advantage of his height and reach, by jabbing and kicking Jackson, keeping him at bait. The fight went the distance in what turned out to be an exhilarating five round unanimous decision in favor of Griffin.

Griffin has certainly come a long way from reality TV to becoming the new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. Afterwards, an overwhelmed Forrest Griffin spoke with Joe Rogan: “This is the greatest night of my life, I want to thank Quinton Jackson. It was close, I think we’re gonna have to do it again.”

A gracious Rampage, who never seems to be at a loss of words, simply explained: “He whooped my ass… sometimes you win, sometimes you loose. He deserves it.”

The new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Forrest Griffin, improves his MMA record to 16-4-0. Meanwhile, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson gets his first taste of defeat in the UFC (3-1-0) as his overall MMA record falls to 28-7-0.
