Mayweather vs Ortiz Fight Odds: The moment of truth is finally here! All the talking and all the promoting is finally over… it’s now time to lace ‘em up and go to war!! It’s time for Mayweather vs Ortiz Fight Odds!!! The WBC World Welterweight Championship will be on the line this evening at the MGM Grand, as (41-0-0, 25 KO) Floyd “Money” Mayweather [-600 ML] looks to add another crown to his collection by defeating Boxing Odds underdog, “Vicious” (29-2-2, 22 KO) Victor Ortiz [+400 ML].
The Mayweather vs Ortiz Fight card gets underway tonight at 9 PM ET (6 PM PT) on PPV. Interestingly enough,
Mayweather vs Ortiz Fight Odds makers believe that this fight will definitely go the distance, which is evidenced by the 11½ round OVER/UNDER. Just in case you’re wondering, here’s how the money-lines look: OVER [-170 ML] vs UNDER [+130 ML].
The fact that the OVER/UNDER favors the fight going the distance backs up the fact that Boxing Odds makers doubt Ortiz has a chance to beat Mayweather tonight. To a certain extent, the Mayweather vs Ortiz Fight Odds make perfect sense, given that if Ortiz is going to win this fight, it will not be by decision, that much is true. What I’m not convinced of are the chances that Pretty Boy Floyd walks out of this fight unbeaten.
Not only is he not the same fighter, anymore, but he is also very vulnerable to get knocked out because of Ortiz’s stance and style. Not that Ortiz is anything close to what De La Hoya once was when he faces Mayweather, but if he can try to steal that gameplan, he will get this done tonight.
If Ortiz can employ De La Hoya’s aggressive, bullying attack on Mayweather — which I believe made Oscar the winner that night — we could be in for a shocker tonight in Vegas. But to have a remote chance, Ortiz cannot allow Mayweather to dictate the pace of the fight… that’s the most important part of the upset.
This kid has to go in there, bully and push Mayweather around, get inside and take some chances. Mayweather does not have the power to put this kid to sleep! Ortiz and his camp have to be 100 percent convinced that the only way they will defeat a defensive master like Mayweather, is by pressuring him, harassing him, and ultimately taking his heart by suffocating him and brawling with him.
Not only is Mayweather not the same fighter he was during in his prime, but he’s nowhere near as hungry either. This is another key to this bout and once again, the upset. Hey listen, if a fighter lacks motivation to fight — and pay attention, because I don’t mean train, I mean fight — which Mayweather clearly does, there’s a bigger problem. The Mayweathers have had that problem on their hands!
Just think about it! It is no mystery. Floyd, himself, has admitted that he lacks the motivation to continue fighting. Now, we’re not talking about just training, because any fighter knows and understands that the one thing that motivates you get out of bed in the AM to train is the ultimate prize of being able to fight! Floyd Mayweather wants to quit fighting, that’s the truth. He’s just waiting for someone to come along and shove him through the retirement door.
The former pound-for-pound king admitted to the world that watching Ortiz defeat Berto was the reason he wanted to fight again… motivation to fight? This guy lives his life like Manny Pacquiao isn’t his equal or even better than him. My point is, this guy doesn’t have the hunger of a young Lion like Ortiz. Nope, not any more…
The opportunity to do something truly special is here for Victor Ortiz and his family, and this is the best opportunity anyone has ever had at beating Mayweather. It’s time to seize the moment, kid! Go out there and fight like your life depends on it, and you will dethrone the declining Floyd Mayweather.
