UFC 103: Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic vs. Junior Dos Santos UFC Betting Odds: The Ultimate Fighting Championship is in “Big D” this Saturday night, September 19th for UFC 103: Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic vs. Junior Dos Santos UFC Betting Odds, along with other great fights. UFC 103 will take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, and according to various reports, UFC 103 is already setting records in The Lone Star State. “We’re very happy with ticket sales,” UFC president Dana White stated.
This venue is of course mostly known as the home of Mark Cuban’s NBA team, the Dallas Mavericks. However, as
the UFC invades the UFC-hater’s dwelling, it’s also sending a few messages to the ever-outspoken entrepreneur. Can you imagine a war of words between Dana White and Mark Cuban? I would certainly pay a good buck just to see that!
According to American Airlines Center general manager, Dave Brown, UFC 103, “it’s the number one sporting gross we’ve ever had and only second behind the Rolling Stones in 2005 (for gross ticket sales for any event),” he stated. How about that for a statement! “I’m very excited to be back here in Texas, and I’m even more excited hearing numbers like that,” said White.
One of the most interesting bouts of the UFC 103 Betting Odds night involves two hard-hitters looking to make their presence felt in the juiced UFC heavyweight division: Croatian veteran, (25-6-2, 1 NC) Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic [+115 ML] taking on rising Brazilian star, (8-1) Junior Dos Santos [-145 ML].
After some static between he and the UFC, Cro Cop will be making the first fight after signing a new contract with the organization. Taking on Dos Santos will be quiet the task for this old school veteran, as the Brazilian will have an advantage in height (6’2” vs. 6’4”), weight (238 lbs vs. 220 lbs), and age (25 years-old vs. 25 years-old).
Certainly, a win against the Croatian would put Dos Santos among the contenders in one of the most exciting divisions. “Yes, the heavyweight division is very hard at the moment,” Cro Cop stated. “Some new fighters are coming in like Junior, like Velasquez. And it is getting stronger and stronger every day. As MMA, the sport, is spreading all around the world, new fighters are coming from different kind of sports and training. And it will be tougher and tougher to take the belt. But I don’t want to think too much in the future.”
After defeating Eddie Sanchez, Cro Cop had a little bit of a letdown, dropping a (unanimous) decision to Frenchman Chiek Kongo and getting a doze of his own medicine with a head kick from Gabriel Gonzaga; one of the nastiest KO’s you will see! After that devastating loss to Napao, Filipovic boinced back with a TKO victory over Mostapha Al Turk at UFC 99. His opponent Dos Santos, immediately made his presence felt in the UFC with a vicious knockout of Fabricio Werdum followed by a devastating (1st round, 54 seconds) TKO victory over Stefan Struve.
