At 37-years young, Sherk has to be very careful and not overlooking his 28-year-old opponent tonight, as he will be trying to stop an undefeated, rising star he refers to as “the kid”. In a recent interview, Sherk told reporters that he had accepted to fight Dunham, despite the fact that he had no idea who the Sociology major out of the University of Oregon was.
“To be honest, when they offered me the fight with Dunham, I didn’t know who he was and I just said ‘OK, sounds good,’ ” Sherk recalled. “I didn’t even look into it. I just wanted to fight and I accepted the fight not knowing who he was.
“After I started watching some video [of Dunham], I’m like ‘All right, OK, this is going to be a tough fight.’ So I better get my [butt] going and train like I always do. If I do that, then there’s nothing to worry about. I know I can hang with the best in the world. I can beat the best in the world.”
