Brock Lesnar Shane Carwin UFC 106 Fight Cancelled: According to confirmed reports reports, the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s biggest star, Brock Lesnar will not be able to fight in his anticipated second UFC heavyweight title defense against Shane Carwin on November 21st in Las Vegas, Nevada. Lesnar, who had been listed as a rather significant sports betting odds favorite to defeat Carwin at UFC 106, has been forced to withdraw due to an illness that interrupted a good portion of his training regimen. It is reported that the former WWE star has been ill for more than 3½ weeks, unable to hit the gym.
With some people speculating that Lesnar might have the infamous H1N1 virus, better known as the swine flu, UFC President Dana White doesn’t believe that’s the cause with his champ. “He said he’s never been this sick in his life,” White stated. “He said it’s been going on for a long time and he just hasn’t been able to shake it.”
Although White didn’t specify as to when this UFC heavyweight fight would be rescheduled, the possibility of Carwin still being on the UFC 106 card isn’t out of the question. “We’re still working everything out,” he added.
As for the challenger, who has done a fair share of criticizing Lesnar, he only hopes to get his title shot in the near future. “My heart just sank, as you can imagine,” Carwin said. “Hopefully, we’ll get it rescheduled soon.”
UFC 106 main card will also feature the return of the Huntington Beach Bad Boy, Tito Ortiz [+125 ML], as he will be taking on former UFC light heavyweight champion and sports betting odds favorite, Forrest Griffin [-155 ML]. This UFC 106 fight card sure seems cursed. This is already the second time there has been issues with one of its fights. UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman was initially slated as Ortiz’s opponent on Nov. 21st in Vegas, but “The Hammer” was forced to withdraw from the fight due to injury.
