UFC 124 Betting Odds: The UFC Welterweight Championship will be on the line this Saturday as current belt holder Georges "Rush" St. Pierre takes on Josh Koscheck. Koscheck, who coached opposite St. Pierre on the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter, will attempt to avenge a 2007 loss to the champion when he enters the Octagon this weekend at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. UFC 124 Betting Odds at online sportsbook BetUS.com are predicting another successful title defense for St. Pierre, though, who is presently listed as a -400 moneyline favorite to retain his belt.
Josh Koscheck, who appeared on the first
season of The Ultimate Fighter, has always been one of the biggest trash talkers in MMA. Seldom has the brash 33 year old said more than he could back up, but he has on a few occasions, including a 2007 non-title match with St. Pierre. Koscheck, who possesses a 17-4 professional record, lost that bout via unanimous decision.
The Pennsylvania native made it more than clear during his time on season 12 of TUF that he expects a different result this time around, even though the match will take place in St. Pierre's backyard.
Koscheck believes he has improved his skill set enough that he no longer relies soley on his wrestling background, a sentiment he expressed to St. Pierre during their time as TUF coaches.
Georges St. Pierre, per usual, kept his cool in Vegas, despite numerous attempts on Koscheck's part to provoke him. His focus would explain why he had two fighters in the finale while Koscheck managed to guide just one man into the semi-finals; it would also explain how the Montreal native has successfully defended his title five straight times.
St. Pierre has looked invincible since regaining the belt with a 2007 submission of Matt Hughes, wiping out Matt Serra, Jon Fitch, BJ Penn, Thiago Alves, and Dan Hardy with relative ease. He expects the same to happen this weekend in his hometown.
"[Koscheck] was very disrespectful during the filming of The Ultimate Fighter and I didn't say a word," St. Pierre said. "Now on December 11th, I get to answer back with my fists."
UFC 124 present by Affliction is scheduled to take place this Saturday, December 11th at 10:00pm ET. The event, which will take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, can be seen live on Pay-Per-View.
