Glen Johnson gets robbed against Chad Dawson! PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 13 April 2008

It was despicable how bad Glen Johnson got robbed by judges Peter Trematerra, Jack Woodburn and Nicolas Hidalgo in his fight with Chad Dawson Saturday night. Those three judging magoos snaked the earnest and hard working 39-year old year old true champion Glen Johnson who kicked Chad Dawson’s ass for 12 rounds. In practically every round of the Glen Johnson vs Chad Dawson fight Johnson had Dawson hurt and staggering from his brutal hooks, uppercuts and crosses. Johnson was a +290 boxing betting underdog at bodoglife.com

Dawson gave Johnson his best shots with explosive salvos but Johnson put the heat on Dawson, and Glen Johnson gets robbed against Chad Dawson!was never hurt by the strong 6’1” 25-year old’s punches. Both fighters hammered away with body shots all night long, but Dawson was  feeling the effects, and was running for his life by the 7th round. The old, savvy, pro, Johnson, broke Dawson down with his pressure and volumes of accurate punches down the stretch. Dawson was running when Johnson nailed him with a dynamite right hand bolo punch that had Dawson out on his feet in the 10th round. Dawson bloodied and battered, clutched at Johnson for dear life, as Johnson bullied Dawson around the ring like a ragdoll. Johnson couldn’t finish the job as Dawson survived the round.

In the 11th and 12th round Johnson owned the still hurt Dawson. Dawson showed his gameness by unloading with some flashy combos but Johnson’s great defense rolled with most of Dawson’s heavy punches. The final scores read 117-111 all for a dubious win for still W.B.C champion Chad Dawson who was booed by the crowd. Dawson fought a good fight but he was beaten without question. My scorecard read 116-111 for Glen Johnson one of boxings few good guys who got screwed after fighting the fight of his life by bum judges: Peter Trematerra, Jack Woodburn and Nicolas Hidalgo. Johnson emotionally said this after the bout:

“I can’t believe they would do this to me when I‘m on my last leg…Something needs to be done about boxing…It’s all about politics and who you know…I told Dawson’s promoter I would give Dawson a rematch if he lost…” Dawson on the other hand seemed completely uninterested in fighting Johnson again while the crowd booed him. You really have to feel for the hard working good guy Johnson. Those judges took the dirty money and they could careless about all the blood, sweat and tears Johnson put in to prepare for Dawson. Glen “The Gentleman” has every right to have a bad taste in his mouth. Simply disgusting.

Miguel Cotto vs Alfonso Gomez Betting Preview PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 12 April 2008

Alfonso Gomez is out to shock the world and tonight when he faces Miguel Cotto for the W.B.A welterweight title he will do just that if he beats the top-5 pound for pound killer Cotto, as Gomez is a +800 boxing betting underdog.

The 27-year old Mexican/American Alfonso Gomez, 18-3-2, 8 KO’s, has proven to be a legit top-15 contender with his 8th round KO demoltion of fading Italian warrior Arturo Gatti in his last fight. Cotto, 31-0, 25 KO’s, is regarded as the #1 man right behind Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the welterweight division after outfighting “Sugar” Shane Mosely for a 12-round UD in his last bout. The OVER\UNDER is 9.5 rounds with the OVER at -170 for Miguel Cotto vs Alfonso Gomez.

Miguel Cotto vs Alfonso Gomez Betting PreviewThe 5’9” Gomez will be the bigger man in this fight and he has shown that his technique of fighting inside or outside are both above-average. Gomez is a decent puncher but Cotto has the heavier hands in this fight by a good margin. Gomez might also be a tad faster than Cotto but Gomez has less stamina than the iron-willed Puerto Rican Cotto who takes opponents legs with his piercing body shots.  Cotto can be dropped but he has never been kept down.

Does the bigger Gomez have the firepower to keep the hard hitting superstar down for the 10 count?  Both of these guys swell up will this fight go past 10 rounds? Buy my winning boxing bet with expert analysis on this fight tonight between Miguel Cotto vs Alfonso Gomez.

More than a few times Dawson has looked weak in the legs late in fights. Glen Johnson is a man that knows how to expose weakness. Together with his trainer Orlando Cueller, Glen Johnson has a savvy brain trust that has been battle tested. The TOTAL round prop bet for Chad Dawson vs Glen Johnson is at 11.5 rounds with the OVER at -325.

Dawson has a long beautiful jab that he will use to box Johnson at range from his southpaw set. Dawson is slick and has a good punch radar, but Johnson is a fighter that likes to grind his foes down. Miguel Cotto Fighter Bio PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 08 April 2008

Miguel Cotto is the #1 welterweight contender in the world second only to welterweight and pound-4-pound champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. While the 31-year old “Pretty Boy” Floyd is the king right now, more than a handful of boxing insiders have the opinion that the 27-year old Puerto Rican Cotto could lick Floyd if given the opportunity. Miguel Cotto is a -1000 boxing betting favorite in Miguel Cotto vs Alfonso Gomez this Saturday April 12th.

With a perfect 31-0 (25) record Miguel has literally beaten up a laundry list of top contenders with his demonic body assaults and all-around boxing ability. Miguel Cotto Fighter BioCotto is bull strong pressure fighter that has every The OVER\UNDER is at 9.5 rounds with the OVER at -150 for Miguel Cotto vs Alfonso Gomez. punch in the book jabs, hooks, uppercuts or bolo punches from orthodox and southpaw stances. The solidly built 5’7” Miguel Cotto has been regarded as one of the hardest punchers pound-4-pound in boxing and his left hook to the body is paralyzing.

When Cotto has an opponent hurt his killer instinct is that of a blood thirsty shark with his excellent finishing ability. Cotto is not a one trick ponie however as he complements his power with a hard jab, tight defense and pinpoint accuracy to vital body parts. Cotto is a terrific combination puncher but his hand speed is only ordinary. Cotto is also a slow starter that is vulnerable to knockdowns and cuts. Miguel can be hurt but he has always shown a championship heart and determination that separates him from being just a good boxer to be being a great boxer.

UFC Fight Night 13: Marcus Aurelio wins in 16 seconds! PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 05 April 2008

Not that Sports-Odds.com is a site to brag about for the hints they offer or anything but UFC Fight Night 13 was another example of when this site gives out great UFC betting insight. The premium services even more so. UFC Fight Night had some predicted outcomes that would have made an attentive reader a few extra reasons to be happy after a great night of fights.

In a fight that was favored for the winner anyways, Marcus Aurelio took home a victory over replacement, Ryan Roberts as reported by Sports-Odds.com. The win came only :16 seconds into the very first round. While it was the quicket win of Marcus's career, it was not as quick as Houston Alexander would be knocked out. He was put to sleep by a superman punch by James Irving in the same evening. That :8 second knockout tied Don Fryes record for the quickest.

UFC Fight Night 13: Marcus Aurelio wins in :16!Marcus was expected to win and from our souce at Sobe Knockouts, a UFC clothing store on South Beach who sponsored Marcus, knew he was in great spirits, health and had an amazing training camp. His stable mate also from American Top Team, Thiago Alves also won his fight on Wednesday. None of the sports betting sites had him as a favorite over Karo. His management and the contact at Sobe Knockouts also made it clear before the fight they had trained with an Olympic Judo master to combat any skill Karo could pull out.

Sports-Odds.com also reported that the main danger that karo himself recognized came from the legs of Thiago Alves. The legs would end the fight as well. It was not the dangeros leg kicks, but rather a knee that would end the night in the second round. "The Heat" would protest the stopage, but the underdog won and will keep the "w" in the records for a great victory.
