UFC 109 Odds: Randy Couture vs Mark Coleman UFC 109 Betting Preview: Tonight’s UFC 109 main event will feature two UFC Hall of Famers facing one another for the first time ever live on pay-per-view beginning at 10 PM ET (7 PM PT). It all happens tonight from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, as 46-year-old Randy Couture [-400 ML] takes on 45-year-old Mark Coleman [+300 ML] in a light heavyweight showdown.

One of the biggest question marks for “The Hammer” tonight will be his conditioning. As we witnessed in his fight against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 93, Coleman appeared to have ran out of gas very early in the fight. According to the first ever UFC-heavyweight champion, he felt very appreciative about the way the UFC fans cheered him on even after a sub-par performance

“It most definitely made a difference,” Coleman said. “I was pleasantly surprised by the crowd. I didn’t have a good training camp. It was my first fight at 205 pounds. It wasn’t going good, but the fans chanting for me helped me get through it. I have a big heart, but I was pretty tired. Their reaction meant the world to me. It gave me another opportunity and UFC took notice. I think it made them see that I was a marketable person.”

For this particular matchup, the former Grand Prix champion believes he has a few things over Couture. Coleman thinks he has more punching power, and a better chin, but he also is aware of where his comfort zone is. “I’m a wrestler and when I see that leg, I instinctively go for the takedown. And he’s not going to be easy to take down,” he explained. “I want to use my stand-up, but I can’t over-commit. If I do, he may get an easy takedown and I don’t want to be put on my ass.”

Mayweather vs Mosley Fight Betting Odds PDF Print E-mail

Mayweather vs Mosley Fight Betting Odds: With Manny Pacquiao out of the equation for May 1st, the next big fight will not be the one everyone wanted to see. Instead, various reports now indicate that a Floyd Mayweather vs Sugar Shane Mosley bout has been finalized. At this point, Fight Betting Odds makers at SPORTSBOOK.com have listed (40-0, 25 KOs) Floyd Mayweather [-260 ML] as the sports betting odds favorite to defeat (46-5, 39 KOs) Shane Mosley [+200 ML]. This fight will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Floyd Mayweather vs Shane Mosley Fight Betting OddsLast week, the former pound-for-pound king agreed and formally signed the contract for what would be his second fight out of retirement. “This one is definitely for the fans, as I wasn’t going to waste anyone’s time with a meaningless tuneup bout and asked to fight Shane immediately,” said Money Mayweather said. “I have said ever since I came back to the sport that I only wanted to fight the best. I think Shane is one of the best, but come May 1, he still won’t be great enough to beat me.”

Rumors for this fight began swirling around the moment that people began claiming that Golden Boy Productions’ Oscar De La Hoya had allegedly paid for some of Mayweather’s enormous tax debt. De La Hoya of course denied these allegations. Other allegations include Mosley, performance enhancers and the infamous BALCO Labs.

The 38-year-old former Welterweight champion addressed this very issue with the media. “I’m real disappointed and real angry to be linked to juicing and steroids, because that’s just not me,” Mosley said in a recent phone interview with the AP. “I don’t need to do that stuff. I like the testing for this fight. I want it, because I want to prove that everything I’ve done is all me, and not about steroids. I’ve never tested positive for anything, but I want everybody to know who I really am.”

UFC 109: Randy Couture vs Mark Coleman Betting Odds: The main event in this Saturday’s UFC 109 features two ageless wonders of the sport as UFC Hall of Famers, (17-10) Randy “The Natural” Couture [-500 ML] faces sports betting odds underdog (16-9) Matt “The Hammer” Coleman [+325 ML] in a light heavyweight matchup between two legends of the sport. UFC 109 Betting Odds happens this Saturday night from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, live beginning at 10 PM ET (7 PM PT) on Pay-Per-View.

The 46-year-old Couture is coming off a very unimpressive unanimous decision victory over Brandon Vera at UFC 105. With the win, Couture was able to stop a 2-fight losing streak to reigning UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and heavyweight title-contender Minotauro Nogueira. After dropping down in weight, “Captain America” will now face a very similar opponent.

As he prepares to take on the originator of the ground-and-pound, Couture has decided to seek some help with his ground game. "The likelihood that he can take me down is there," he said. "I've got to be prepared for the worst case scenario, I give up a double-leg in the early rounds. I've got to be able to first of all survive and be effective there."

Although most people would expect Coleman to come in with a very predictable gameplan, the former NCAA Division I All-American isn’t leaving anything to chance. "Mark's style hasn't changed,” Couture explained. “He's a strong guy so he's going to be throwing hard punches. He's heavy handed. So I don't want to be standing around to absorb a bunch of that. And the more I stand around the easier I'm to be able to takedown as well."

Strikeforce Miami Results PDF Print E-mail

Strikeforce Miami Results: The BankAtlantic Center was rocking last night, as Strikeforce invaded Miami with a rather interesting mixed martial arts fight card. Between former Heisman Trophy winners to former pro-wrestling guys to women’s MMA, Strikeforce Miami seemed to have something for everyone. And while the quality of the fights was somewhat mediocre, the refereeing left a lot to be desired and the commentating needing some serious work, it was certainly entertaining.

The biggest fight of the Strikeforce Miami Results night saw former collegiate/NFL star Herschel Walker make his professional MMA debut at the tender age of 47. Coming in as the sports betting odds favorite, Walker defeated 26-year-old betting underdog Greg Nagy by third round (2:17) TKO in a rather uneventful fight, that being kind. Nevertheless, Walker dominated his clearly less-skillful opponent.

“He was well-schooled, which you could tell,” Strikeforce promoter Scott Coker said. “He got out of the transitions well. He did some good standup, some good leg kicks. He wrestled well. He controlled the guy well. And he didn’t gas. His conditioning was unbelievable.”

Walker trained with AKA out West under the direct supervision of Javier Mendez. The 1982 Heisman winner spent a pretty good amount of time rolling on the mat with UFC heavyweight title contender Cain Velasquez, who’s despite his smaller frame, is one of the best-conditioned big man in the game.

“You’re going to be shocked by this, but not at all,” Walker said during his post-fight press conference. “There was no pressure and the reason why was I really thought the people at AKA prepared me for it. The fighters at the gym, everyone there, they prepared me for this. What I had to do was just go in the ring and do it.

“I’ve loved (MMA) for about four years. This isn’t something I just decided I wanted to do. It’s something I’ve thought about for over four years. I want to thank Scott Coker and Strikeforce and Showtime for putting it on so my family back home could see it, but this is something I’ve loved for a long time.”

The other big-name star on the card was American Top Team’s own, Bobby Lashley. The former collegiate and WWE wrestling champ quickly disposed (TKO) of ex-UFC heavyweight/TUF 10 cast-member, Wes Sims. It took Lashley just 2:06 to improve his pro MMA record to 5-0, displaying his ability to ground-and-pound from the guard as well as some transitions following a takedown just seconds into the fight.

Although it’s clear to see that Sims’ better days -- from watching last night and from his appearance in TUF 10 -- are behind him, it was a pretty good showing for a man who’s certainly getting the best possible training at ATT in Coconut Creek. Lashley is under the direct supervision of Grande Mestre, ATT/Brazilian Top Team co-founder Ricardo Liborio, who will be hosting a FREE clinic/seminar at ATT-DORAL on February 5th in Miami, FL.

Other Strikeforce Miami Results include:

Micahel Byrnes defeated David Zitnik by majority decision

Nick Diaz TKO’d Marius Zaromskis - 1st Round (4:38)

Cris "Cyborg" Santos retained her title with a 3rd Round (3:40) TKO victory over Marloes Coenen

Robbie Lawler KO’d Melvin Manhoef - 1st Round (3:33)

Jay Hieron defeated Joe Riggs by unanimous decision

Joe Ray TKO’d John Clarke - 1st Round (3:14)

David Gomez defeated Craig Oxley by unanimous decision

Pablo Alfonso Submitted (armbar) Marcos DaMatta - 1st Round (1:47)

Hayder Hassan TKO’d Ryan Keenan - 2nd Round (2:42)

John Kelly Submitted (RNC) Sabah Homasi - 1st Round (2:48)

Bobby Lashley vs Wes Sims Fight Odds - Strikeforce Miami Betting: Never at a loss for words, (22-12-1) Wes Sims [+750 ML] might have not had much time to train for his Strikeforce Miami Betting debut against (4-0) Bobby Lashley [-1500 ML], but he’s more than making it up by running his mouth. You can watch all the action of this Bobby Lashley vs Wes Sims Fight Odds on Showtime, beginning at 10 PM ET from the BankAtlantic Center in South Florida.

“Considering you guys [Strikeforce] gave me one week to train... I obviously haven't put no training into this fight. But I'm going to tell you something, I'm prepared,” Sims sounded off. “I've been prepared my entire career for this fight. He's never fought anybody as big, as strong and as good looking as I am.

“I will tell you this much, if I drop him with a one-two and he's laying on the ground -- you can bet your ass I'm going to Hogan leg drop his ass. Because you know something, he should have listened to Hulk and stayed in the pro wrestling. That's a fact.”

For Lashley, the former WWE pro-wrestler was recently added to EA Sports upcoming MMA game, almost around the same time he was told he would face “A Whole Show” tonight. “This is great, man,” Lashley said. “I didn't know this. I'm happy. I just wanted an opponent. I've been training very hard on every aspect of my game -- my wrestling, jiu-jitsu and my standup… Now that I have an opponent, we can do a little bit of scouting on the guy.”
