UFC Results Anderson Silva Defeats James Irvin: The Pearl at the Palms in Las Vegas was rocking for the main event between Anderson Silva and James Irvin. Once again, it has been proven that there is no other MMA corporation that measures to the talent the UFC possesses, even if they have gone soft (as they have). Coming into this fight, Anderson The Spider Silva was a huge -500 betting odds favorite against James Irvin (+350).

The best fighter in the world today, pound for pound, decided to go up in weight class (to 205) to take on the best the UFC has to offer; after ripping through the middleweight division.

Unfortunately for James Irvin, Anderson Silva looked bigger, more powerful, and more indestructible than ever before… how about that for a statement. All of you people that paid for Affliction pay-per-view… I’m truly sorry.

Fight Recap: The first round, which usually is a feel-out round for Silva, was anything but that. Once again the best fighter in the world proves he is light years ahead of the competition even after going up to 205 lbs.

There was an unusual feel about how Silva came out; he looked more aggressive and determined to send a statement to the rest of the light heavyweight division. Irvin attempted a body kick, and Silva caught his kick in mid hair. While holding on to his leg, Silva delivered a short range right, which sent The Sandman to the canvas. After that, it was destruction time, as Silva unloaded a series of bombs to the face of James Irvin. Earning this way, a victory by a way of KO in the first round.

Also:

Brandon Vera (-500) defeats winner by unanimous decision in one of the most boring and uneventful fights ever, against Reese Andy (+350).

Rory Markmah (-270) defeats Brodie Farber (+210) in emphatic fashion, landing a devastating right kick to the chin.

Anderson Silva vs James Irvin UFC Fight Night Betting Prediction: Tonight starting at 9 pm ET the UFC, in conjunction with Spike TV bring you UFC Fight Night: Anderson “The Spider” Silva vs. James “The Sandman” Irvin from The Pearl in Las Vegas, Nevada. After dominating the Middleweight Division, Anderson Silva will move up in weight class, to expand his horizons at Light Heavyweight (205 lbs). At BodogLife.com Anderson Silva is a huge -420 betting odds favorite to defeat James Irvin (+320) in UFC Fight Night.

“The Spider” Silva has already been called by many the best MMA fighter pound-for-pound the UFC has ever seen. After making the move to 205, the UFC Middle weight Champion, Silva looks great: bigger, stronger, and more menacing than ever before.

Silva is an expert in Muay-Thai, Jujutsu, Boxing and Wrestling. However, his deadliest weapon might very easily be his striking power; certainly making him the most complete/dangerous fighter in the game today. Since his arrival at the UFC, Silva has a perfect mark of 6-0, and has absolutely destroyed all that has dared to step in the Octagon with him.

Thus far, not one fighter has been able to go the distance with the Brazilian in the UFC, as he has yet to go passed the 2nd round. All of Silva’s victories have come by a way of KO, TKO, or Submission. Anderson Silva’s overall MMA record stands at 22-4.

Tonight, Silva will take on Huntington Beach’s own, James Irvin (14-4-1). Irvin comes into this fight as a huge underdog, as everyone is expecting Silva to make quick work of him as he has done to so many others.

The 29-year-old will not be afraid to exchange with Silva, as he is a very well conditioned athlete with powerful hands. The former WEC Champ is also a Muay-Thai and Boxing practitioner with devastating standup, so these guys’ styles are very similar. Irvin is 2-1 in his last 3 fights as he has faced the likes of: Houston Alexander (W, TKO), Luiz Cane (W, DQ), and Thiago Alves (L, TKO).

Sports-Odds.com UFC Fight Night Prediction: Anderson Silva -420
