Tiger Woods vs. Brendan Jones Accenture Match Play Championship 2009: This afternoon beginning at 2:02 PM ET (11:02 AM PT) Tiger Woods makes his return to golf in the Accenture Match Play Championship 2009. In his opening match, Tiger will be taking on Australia’s Brendan Jones, who sees the matchup against the world’s No.1 as a great opportunity.

Oddsmakers at SportsBook.com have already placed Tiger Woods as the Sports Odds favorite to win the Accenture Match Platy Championship 2009. In his opening match, Tiger Woods is an overwhelming [-430] ML favorite to defeat Brendan Jones [+330].

Jones, who was the last man to qualify for the 64-man field, was home in Australia when he heard the news of Tiger’s return.

Immediately, Jones knew that him representing the 64th seed would mean a showdown with the best to ever play the game. “I got a few chills up the back of my neck,” Jones said. Tiger Woods [+400] is also the Sports Odds favorites to win the Accenture Match Play Championship 2009.

Like the rest of the world, Jones is curious as to what Tiger will look like after a long 8-month layoff. Nevertheless, he’s being realistic about his chances to defeat the defending champion. “I’ve come a long way,” he said. “If I get beat by anybody, I would like to get beat by Tiger.”

Historically Woods has struggled against Aussies in match play competition: once by Peter O’Malley in the first round, and by Nick O’Hern in the second round twice. “I’m an Australian, so I got some sort of chance,” he said.
