With Tiger Woods unable to defend his title due to knee surgery, 22 year old golfing phenom Anthony Kim wins his first PGA tournament at the Wachovia Championship, becoming the youngest player to win on Tour in almost seven years. But this is not the most impressive thing Kim did Sunday evening in Charlotte, North Carolina. He handled the course and all the big name players with reckless abandon. He attacked the course determined to win, and it showed early in the third round. On Saturday, Kim put himself well in contention, recording a round of - 6 (66) with six birdies. On Sunday Kim put on a (short-game) clinic, displaying an array of shots the youngster posses in his arsenal. In that final round, Kim finished the day with a - 3 (69) as he one-putted 8 times, and chipped in once. This was enough to secure the victory by a comfortable 5-strokes. The key for his victory was his (Tiger-like) ability to get up and down in crucial situations, making important (par) putts when he most needed them. Kim finished his weekend at Quail Hollow CC with a (record) – 16 (272), topping Tiger Woods’ previous mark by 3 strokes. After the impressive victory, an emotional Anthony Kim said: "I'm a little bit numb right now, but that walk up 18 was the best feeling of my entire life… I'll never forget that feeling. I had chills going up and down my spine. I want to recreate that as many times as possible now.”
