2010 British Open: Sergio Garcia vs Adam Scott Betting Odds: With the hopes of completing the hat-trick, Spain’s Sergio Garcia will try his best to win his first major at the Open Championships this week from the famous Old Course, also known as the Home of Golf. After watching his country win the 2010 World Cup this past weekend, as well as having Rafael Nadal win both Wimbledon and the French Open, Sergio Garcia hopes to keep the ball rolling this week.
"Winning The Open would be awesome – the icing on the cake. I'm going to do my best – I love this tournament and the crowds and I'm hoping I can get back into my form,” shared Garcia. "The successes we have had definitely helps. You are on a high and happy for your country, but at the end of the day I have to go out there and perform myself."
Unfortunately, the Spaniard has had trouble performing since he was at the top of his game about 18 months ago. At that time, he was world No. 2, and now he is at 44. In his latest tournaments in Europe he has had trouble making it to the halfway cut.
The bright side is that Garcia has had some great outings at the Open. At Carnoustie, three years ago, he lost in a play-off to Padraig Harrington. Although the last two years have ended up in ties for 51st and 38th place, Garcia had five top-10 finishes in the six years prior to Carnoustie.
"I'm not gonna lie to you, I'm not going through my best time but I wouldn't miss this championship for the world,” explained Garcia. "I'm here to do well. I know the people have always been behind me here so it's very special. Hopefully I can give them lots of things to cheer for."
