British Open 2008 Betting Odds Favor Sergio Garcia: For a player who possesses as much talent as Sergio Garcia does, it is a mystery to everyone in the golf world, why this guy has yet to win a single major tournament. Well, according to the odds-makers at BodogLife.com, Sergio Garcia’s betting odds to win his first major –at the British Open 2008– have never been better.

Sergio Garcia has had a PGA card for quite some time now. Yet on TOUR, he has underachieved like no one ever anticipated.

Despite being a terrific ball-striker, and creative shot-maker, all of Garcia's problems (in the past) have come with the flat stick in hand.

Garcia has been criticized (a lot) for being too robotic with his mechanics; with not enough feel when putting the ball. However, this weekend at the Royal Birkdale GC in Merseyside, England, Garcia will be in his absolute element.

As while the PGA hasn’t yield many wins for the Spaniard, in the European Tour has greeted Garcia like a Torero’s ring. Sergio Garcia’s 8 - 1 betting odds make him the odds-on favorite to win the British Open 2008.

Statistically during the last 10 years, no one has had more top-10 finishes in the British Open than Sergio Garcia. Also, the fact that Tiger Woods will be absent, also doesn’t hurt Sergio's chances:

“When you don’t have the No.1 player in the world playing here –and obviously we know how good he is and how well he’s done in the majors– it gives you a bit more of a chance… but it doesn’t mean it’s yours to win.”
