2009 British Open Results Tiger Woods Misses Cut: For only the second time in his career, Tiger Woods will go home early and empty handed as he searched for his 15th Open title. After a shockingly rough day at Turnberry, Scotland the favorite to win the 2009 British Open Results was cut in the second round. Tiger Woods’ frustration lingered onto Friday as he played a bogey filled round.
In this second round, Tiger shot a 74 hoping for some sort of miracle to make the cut. It was all down hill after his birdie on the 7th, since he played the next six holes seven-over par.
Tiger showed resilience and did not finish the round without putting up a fight. “It was just problem after problem,” said Woods. “I kept compounding my problems out there.”
With just three holes to play, Woods knew he had to birdie the last three holes in order to show some sort of life.
Sure enough, the game face was on and he was able to putt for birdie on the 16th and two putt for birdie on the 17th. With his chance to make the cut with a birdie on 18, Tiger just couldn’t make it. “I hit some bad tee shots, a couple of bad iron shots, didn’t get it up and down,” Woods said. “I kept making mistake after mistake.”
Unfortunately for the Tiger hopefuls everywhere Tiger did not reach his goal, but many believe he will come back with a vengeance. “Unfortunately, it just didn’t happen,” Woods said. “No doubt I’m frustrated. I was playing well the first seven holes, right there in the championship. I felt like if I was under par for the tournament, I would be in the top 10. I didn’t do that. I went the other way.”
