Padraig Harrington Wins British Open 2008: The 137th British Open Championship was an incredible test of skill and game plan execution. At the end, it was Padraig Harrington shooting a -1 (69) on the final round, and winning back-to-back Open Championships at +3 (283).

With the Jar still on the line, Harrington delivered the knockout blows in the 15th and 17th holes. After the victory, Padraig Harrington felt he was in the right frame of mind despite his body not being 100%: “I was making sure I made no mistakes… I had my mind in the right place.”

It was a different win than last year's when Harrington was involved in a playoff shootout with Sergio Garcia.

This time around the big names like Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson, and Vijay Singh left a lot to be desired with their play. Padraig Harrington was able to fight off a brilliant attempt by Greg Norman who was trying to make history Sunday at The Open  

The story of the tournament was 53-year-old Greg Norman, and how great he played going into the final round with a 2-stroke lead. Norman came that close to making history –trying to become the oldest player to win a major championship– but at the end, it was a noble effort that wasn’t to be.

The Shark quickly took himself out of contention in the final round, after starting 4 bogies in the first 6 holes under extreme conditions. Norman went on to finish tied for third place with Henrik Stenson for the tournament at +9 (289). Poulter claimed second place by recording a +7 (287).
