Trinniberg Odds 2012 Kentucky Derby Predictions: Trinniberg is a speed horse, and with a 9-post draw, is in great shape to jump the 2012 Kentucky Derby field. At least for a little while. Trinniberg is great on short sprints but will likely be trailing the field on the final stretch. That’s why odds makers have shown the least confidence listing him at 50/1 Horse Racing Odds for this Derby. Trinniberg has two wins in his prep career, finishing first in the G3 Bayshore at Aqueduct by seven furlongs on April 7 and Swale Stakes at Gulfstream park March 10.Is Trinniberg no better than a 50/1 shot? My personal opinion is yes; he’s better than that. He has been impressive of late winning Bay Shore and Swale. Trinniberg is under rated at 50/1. Just because he hasn’t run a race longer than seven furlongs in length; doesn’t mean he can’t.
Originally expected to bypass the Kentucky Derby in favor of the Preakness, the swift Trinniberg will instead take a position in the starting gate for Churchill Downs’ 1 1/4-mile classic. Trinniberg will attempt to win the Derby in his first ever race of this 1 1/2 mile length.
Trinniberg has inherited the family legacy of being a solid one-turn performer. His sire, Teuflesberg, won the seven-furlong Woody Stephens at Belmont Park and the six-furlong Sugar Bowl at Fair Grounds. However, he did stretch his speed over one mile to take the Southwest at Oaklawn, and finished a close fourth in the first ever edition of the 1 1/8-mile Blue Grass at Keeneland contested over Polytrack.
