Super Bowl Prediction: With a few hours away from the opening kickoff for this year’s Super Bowl, speculation about Dwight Freeney’s ankle and his status for tonight’s game remain in question. Ever since tearing a ligament in his right ankle during the 4th quarter his team’s AFC Championship victory over the New York Jets, Freeney hasn’t practiced. That game was back on January 24th. But in case Freeney can’t go tonight, do you think that deters Super Bowl Odds makers from predicting the Indianapolis Colts [-4] winners over the New Orleans Saints [+4]? Not one bit!
Another player that missed some practice time this week due to injury was wide receiver Reggie Wayne. After missing some time due to an aggravated right knee injury, Wayne returned to practice. It’s worth noting that injured cornerback Jerraud Powers also participated in team practices on Friday. Both Wayne and Powers are expected to play tonight, but Freeney is still up in the air apparently. “He (Freeney) and Powers both are better than yesterday. It’s still day to day,” Caldwell said. Nevertheless, the Colts appear to be more than ready to go. “We’ve done extremely well and been attentive,” Caldwell said. “The (players) have been very, very focused and our practices have been sharp as well. Overall, we’ve been moving in the right direction.” |
