Odds to Win the 2015 NBA Finals

bulls derrick roseThe Cleveland Cavaliers early season struggles and the Golden State Warriors red hot start have caused a shake up in Bovada’s latest odds to win the 2015 NBA Finals. Cleveland was at the front of the favorites line when the offshore bookmaker issued its NBA Odds for the 2014-2015 season, but the team has been inconsistent since its opener on October 30. The Cavaliers were drawing 5 to 2 odds to win the championship while the defending champion Spurs were a second pick to win the title at 15 to 4 odds. The Bulls, Thunder and Clippers rounded out the top five NBA Finals favorites at 6 to 1, 7 to 1 and 17 to 2 odds, respectively.

Two months into the season, Chicago is now considered the front runner to win the Larry O’Brien Trophy at 5/1 odds. The Bulls are presently third in the Eastern Conference overall standings with a 25-11 record, but they have won 13 of their last 16 games.

Golden State is actually a 5/1 championship co-favorite as the Warriors have produced an NBA best 28 wins. Stephen Curry and company also lead the league in home and road win percentage and they are tops in scoring differential at +10.8 per game.

The Cavaliers, who fell to 19-17 with last night’s loss to the Rockets, are still highly thought of, coming in at 13/2 odds to win the title, but their chemistry issues have been substantial enough to knock them off the top spot on the odds leaderboard.

The Spurs and Thunder have been downgraded as well, but injuries have played a major role in their stock drop. However, like Cleveland, both teams are still viewed as serious championship threats, drawing 13/2 and 17/2 NBA Finals odds.

Among the biggest risers are the Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks. The Mavs were a 16/1 pick prior to the start of the season while Atlanta was drawing a 100/1 line. Dallas is now a 15/2 choice and the Hawks, who sit atop the East standings with a 27-8 record, have seen their odds move all the way to 12/1.
